Step 1
In a saucepan, boil the potatoes in enough water to cover them. Cook until they are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let cool for 5 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 230°C. Grease a baking sheet generously.

Place each potato on the prepared baking sheet and use the bottom of a sturdy cup or glass to gently smash them down to about 1/4-inch thickness.

In a small bowl, mix the chili oil and crushed garlic. Brush the mixture over the smashed potatoes and season with salt.

Bake the potatoes in the preheated oven until crispy, about 20 minutes. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
