cooking spray
450 grams extra-lean ground beef
60 grams Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
80 grams finely chopped onion
80 ml Worcestershire sauce
60 ml ketchup, divided
2 egg whites
22 grams brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees C (350 degrees F). Lightly grease a loaf pan with cooking spray.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, egg whites, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined. Press the mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
Step 3
Bake the loaf in the preheated oven, uncovered, for approximately 45 minutes or until it is no longer pink in the center. Spread the remaining ketchup over the top and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the ketchup bubbles and thickens. Ensure the loaf reaches an internal temperature of at least 70 degrees C (160 degrees F) using an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center.
Step 4
Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Step 5
Enjoy with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh green salad.
