450 grams lean ground beef
5 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
120 milliliters reduced-sodium soy sauce
80 grams light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
6 green onions, chopped, divided
960 milliliters hot cooked brown rice
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Step 1
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, stirring and breaking it into small pieces until it is browned, which should take around 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
Step 2
Add the crushed garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to the skillet and cook until fragrant for about 2 minutes. Then, stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper. Allow the beef to absorb some of the sauce, cooking for approximately 7 minutes. Finally, mix in half of the chopped green onions.
Step 3
To serve, spoon the beef over the hot cooked rice and garnish with sesame seeds and the remaining green onions.
