250 g white sugar
120 ml vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 tbsp anise extract (or 3 drops anise oil)
405 g all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Grease two baking sheets or line them with parchment paper.
Step 3
In a medium bowl, beat together sugar, oil, eggs, and anise extract until well-blended. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder, then stir into the egg mixture to form a thick dough.
Step 4
Divide the dough into two equal pieces and shape each piece into a log the length of a baking sheet. Place one log on each prepared sheet and press the dough down to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, for about 25 to 30 minutes. Transfer the logs to wire racks and let them cool for about 15 minutes.
Step 6
Slice each log crosswise into approximately eighteen 1/2-inch-thick slices. Place the slices cut-side up back on the baking sheets.
Step 7
Bake until lightly toasted and golden brown, for about 6 to 10 minutes per side.
