900 g ground beef
1 onion, chopped
240 ml ketchup
240 g Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
2 eggs
1.5 tsp salt
0.25 tsp ground black pepper
360 ml ketchup
60 ml water
45 ml white wine vinegar
45 ml brown sugar
30 ml Dijon mustard
10 ml Worcestershire sauce
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 23x13 cm (9x5 inch) loaf pan with butter.
Step 2
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, chopped onion, 240 ml ketchup, bread crumbs, eggs, salt, and pepper. Press the mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
Step 3
In a saucepan, combine 360 ml ketchup, water, white wine vinegar, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook and stir over medium heat until the sauce is smooth and warm, about 10 minutes. Pour one-third of the sauce over the meatloaf.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven, basting every 25 minutes with more sauce, until the meatloaf is cooked through, which will take about 1 to 1.5 hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 70°C (160°F). Let the meatloaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing.
