Ingredients

250 g white sugar
115 g butter, softened
2 eggs
1.5 tsp vanilla extract
210 g all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
0.5 tsp salt
120 ml milk
30 g confectioners' sugar for dusting

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 23 cm (9-inch) round pan.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and softened butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 3
In another mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Add 30-60 ml more milk if the batter is too stiff. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a serving plate to cool to room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes. Dust the cake with confectioners' sugar just before serving.
