2 tablespoons olive oil
1.5 cups chopped onion
0.75 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
0.25 teaspoon ground white pepper

Prepare all the ingredients.

In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the chopped onions and 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt. Cook and stir until the onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 3
In a bowl, mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, white pepper, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt.
Step 4
Stir in the cooled caramelized onions. Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
