Ingredients

250 g bread crumbs
30 g grated Parmesan cheese
5 ml garlic powder
5 ml dried parsley
salt to taste
1 large egg
12 medium mushrooms
500 ml oil for frying
45 g tartar sauce
2 cloves garlic

Directions

Step 1
In a medium resealable plastic bag, combine bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, parsley, and salt.
Step 2
In a large bowl, beat the egg. Add the mushrooms and toss until well coated.
Step 3
Place one mushroom at a time in the bag with the bread crumb mixture, seal the bag, and shake to coat. Repeat with the remaining mushrooms.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 190°C (375°F). Cook the mushrooms in the hot oil until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Then, remove them to a paper towel-lined plate to cool and drain.
Step 5
In a small bowl, mix the tartar sauce with crushed garlic cloves. Serve the garlic dip alongside the fried mushrooms for dipping.
