2 tbsp mayonnaise
1/2 tsp lemon zest
1 tsp lemon juice, or more to taste
1 tsp grated garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp milk, or more as needed
4 cod fillets
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Step 1
To make the lemon aioli, combine mayonnaise, lemon zest, lemon juice, and grated garlic in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper, then thin the mixture to a drizzling consistency with milk.
Step 2
Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season both sides of the cod with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Step 3
Add the cod to the hot skillet and sear until golden brown on both sides and the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer the cod to serving plates and serve with the lemon aioli.
