60 ml soy sauce
45 ml light brown sugar
45 ml distilled white vinegar
2.5 ml garlic powder
2.5 ml seasoned salt
2.5 ml garlic pepper seasoning
120 ml lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
900 g beef sirloin steak, cut into 3.5 cm cubes
2 green bell peppers, cut into 5 cm pieces
skewers
225 g fresh mushrooms, stems removed
475 ml cherry tomatoes
1 fresh pineapple - peeled, cored, and cubed
Step 1
In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, light brown sugar, distilled white vinegar, garlic powder, seasoned salt, garlic pepper seasoning, and lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage. Reserve about 120 ml of the marinade for basting. Place the steak cubes in a large resealable plastic bag. Cover with the remaining marinade, seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Step 2
Bring a saucepan of water to a boil. Add green peppers and blanch for 1 minute. Drain and set aside.
Step 3
Preheat the grill to high heat. Thread the steak, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and pineapple onto skewers in an alternating fashion. Discard the marinade in the bag.
Step 4
Lightly oil the grill grate. Grill the skewers for about 10 minutes or to desired doneness. Baste frequently with the reserved marinade during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
