Ingredients

80 ml water
30 ml soy sauce
30 ml brown sugar
5 ml honey
5 ml grated fresh garlic
5 ml grated fresh ginger
450 g jumbo shrimp
1/2 fresh pineapple, cored and cut into 4 cm pieces
skewers
30 ml minced fresh cilantro
15 ml toasted sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1
In a small saucepan, combine water, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 8-10 minutes.
Step 2
Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate. Thread the shrimp and pineapple alternately onto skewers and place them on a platter.
Step 3
Place the skewers on the hot grate. Grill for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp is opaque and cooked through. Reduce the grill heat to low and brush the sauce on both sides of the skewers. Transfer the skewers to a serving platter and sprinkle with cilantro and sesame seeds.
