Ingredients

3 tbsp olive oil
2 onions, finely chopped
1 (28 oz) can tomato puree
120 ml water
2 tsp dried oregano
0.5 tsp dried basil
0.5 tsp salt
0.25 tsp ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1
In a large saucepan over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they start to turn golden, about 5 to 8 minutes. Stir in the tomato purée, water, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Step 2
Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and let it simmer for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
