225 g bulk pork sausage
115 g Neufchatel cheese, softened
225 g refrigerated crescent rolls
100 g sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste (optional)
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
Step 2
In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes; drain any excess fat. Add the softened Neufchatel cheese and stir until well combined. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Step 3
Unroll the crescent rolls and place half of them into an 20x20 cm (8x8 inch) glass baking dish, pressing the seams together. Spread the sausage-Neufchatel cheese mixture over the rolls and sprinkle with Cheddar cheese. Top with the remaining crescent rolls.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Let it cool for 10 minutes before cutting into 8 squares.
