Ingredients

cooking spray
3 tbsp packed brown sugar
125 ml ketchup
700 g lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
180 ml low-fat (1%) milk
180 ml whole wheat bread crumbs
2 eggs
60 ml chopped parsley
1.5 tsp salt
1.25 ml ground black pepper
1.25 ml ground ginger

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and lightly grease a 23x13 cm (9x5 inch) loaf pan with cooking spray.
Step 2
Press the brown sugar into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan, then spread the ketchup over the sugar.
Step 3
In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the ground beef, onion, milk, bread crumbs, eggs, parsley, salt, black pepper, and ginger. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the pan on top of the ketchup.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the center is no longer pink. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 70°C (160°F).
