Ingredients

500 g ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp dry mesquite flavored seasoning mix
2 cans (800 g each) baked beans (such as Bush's Original®)
60 ml molasses
180 g brown sugar
180 ml barbeque sauce
2 tsp dry mustard powder
2 pinches cayenne pepper, or to taste

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
Step 2
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and mesquite seasoning until the beef is browned and crumbled, about 10 minutes. Drain excess grease, then transfer the beef to a large baking dish.
Step 3
Add the baked beans, molasses, brown sugar, barbeque sauce, dry mustard powder, and cayenne pepper to the baking dish. Stir until the brown sugar lumps dissolve.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven until the beans are bubbling and the flavors have melded, about 20 minutes.
