4 ham stock cubes
2.5 tablespoons instant coffee granules
500 ml water
45 g butter
24 g all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the ham stock cubes and coffee granules in water to create a stock.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, until browned, creating a roux (about 5 minutes).

Gradually add the stock mixture, 120 ml at a time, to the roux, stirring constantly until the mixture has a gravy-like consistency (5 to 7 minutes).
Step 4
Stir in the black pepper. Remove from heat and serve warm with your meal of choice.
