Ingredients

1 package (520g) yellow cake mix
240ml buttermilk
4 eggs
180ml vegetable oil
2.5ml baking soda
220g brown sugar
10g ground cinnamon
375g confectioners' sugar
180ml milk
5ml vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 165°C (325°F). Grease a 23x33cm (9x13-inch) cake pan.

In a bowl, whisk together cake mix, buttermilk, eggs, vegetable oil, and baking soda until well combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

In another bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Spoon the mixture onto the cake batter in several places. Use a spoon to gently swirl the cinnamon-sugar mixture into the cake batter, leaving streaks and ribbons.

Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and use a table knife to punch holes all over the cake.

Whisk together confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla in a bowl to make a smooth, runny icing. Pour the icing over the warm cake, allowing it to soak into the holes. Let the cake cool for about 30 minutes before serving.
