Ingredients

2 tbsp lemon juice
4 cups water
4 Granny Smith apples
2 tbsp butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp water
1 (17.25 oz) package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

1

Prepare the apple filling: Combine lemon juice and water in a large bowl. Place sliced apples in the water to prevent browning.

2

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Drain apples and add them to the hot skillet. Cook for 2 minutes, then add brown sugar and cinnamon. Cook and stir for another 2 minutes.

3

Create a thickened sauce by stirring together cornstarch and water. Add to the skillet and mix well. Cook for 1 more minute or until sauce thickens. Remove from heat to cool slightly.

4

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). On a clean surface, unfold puff pastry sheets and repair any cracks. Trim each sheet into a square shape, then cut each larger square into 4 smaller squares.

5

Spoon apple filling onto the center of each small square. Fold corners to the center to create triangles, pressing edges gently to seal.

6

Place turnovers on a baking sheet with about 1 inch between them. Bake for 25 minutes until puffed and lightly browned. Let cool completely before glazing.

7

Prepare the glaze: Mix confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Adjust consistency as needed by adding more sugar or milk.

8

Drizzle the glaze over cooled turnovers and enjoy!
