Stud the lemon slice with cloves, arranging them all around. Set it aside.
In a heatproof glass, add the sugar. Place a metal spoon inside with the curved side facing upwards. Carefully pour boiling water over the back of the spoon to avoid breaking the glass. Stir until sugar dissolves.
