Ingredients

2 large onions, sliced into rounds
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt

Directions

1

Prepare all ingredients.

2

Submerge onion rings in a bowl of ice water for 1 hour; drain and pat dry with paper towels.

3

In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup of flour, milk, egg, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and salt until smooth.

4

Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) in a deep fryer or large saucepan. Working in batches, dip onion rings into the batter for even coating; arrange them on a plate in a single layer.

5

Fry battered onion rings in hot oil until golden brown and crisp, approximately 5 minutes.

6

Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
