Ingredients

66666686534888g raisins
1 cup hot water
3.25 cups all-purpose flour
3 tbsp white sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
0.5 tsp salt
0.75 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
1 cup milk
1 egg
1 tbsp water

Directions

1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

Soak raisins in hot water for about 10 minutes, then drain and set aside.

3

In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Use a pastry blender or two knives to cut in cold butter until the mixture is crumbly. Stir in milk, followed by raisins. Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface.

4

Pat or roll the dough into a 3/4- to 1-inch thick round. Cut into 8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.

5

In a small bowl, beat together egg and 1 tablespoon water. Brush this mixture onto each biscuit.

6

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, approximately 15 minutes.
