Ingredients

cooking spray
15 craft sticks
15 medium apples
2 cups white sugar
1.5 cups water
1 cup light corn syrup
8 drops red food coloring

Directions

1

Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and lightly coat with cooking spray. Insert craft sticks into the core of each apple.

2

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Cook on medium-high heat until it reaches a boil. Add a candy thermometer and continue to boil without stirring until the temperature hits 149-154°C (300-310°F) or forms hard, brittle threads when dropped in cold water. Remove from heat, then mix in red food coloring.

3

One by one, hold apples by their sticks and dip into the syrup. Ensure they're evenly coated before placing on prepared sheets to harden.
