Prepare all ingredients.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add the beef and sear until browned on all sides (5-7 minutes).
Insert the garlic and cook until aromatic (about 1 minute).
Mix in the mushrooms, tomato sauce, red wine, salt, and pepper.
Simmer until the beef is tender (around 30 minutes), adding more wine if desired. Check the internal temperature of the beef with a meat thermometer - it should read 60 °C for medium.
Serve hot over buttered noodles.
