In a medium bowl, combine beer, flour, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Add cod fillets to the mixture; gently stir until well coated.
In another medium bowl, mix together cornflake crumbs and Cajun seasoning.
Dip each fillet in the cornflake mixture to coat all sides thoroughly.
Heat oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 185°C (365°F) and fry cod until golden brown and easily flaked with a fork. This should take around 15 minutes.
Drain the cooked fish on paper towels before serving.
