Indulge in these delicious pizza buns that combine the comfort of burger buns with savory ground beef, pizza sauce, and melted mozzarella. A quick broil gives them a crispy edge while retaining their gooey cheese interior. Best of all, they're easy to assemble and cook!
Preheat the broiler and set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
Place bun halves, crust sides down, onto a baking sheet. Broil for about 1 minute or until just toasted. Set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes. Drain excess grease. Add onion; cook and stir until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes more.
Stir in pizza sauce, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10-15 minutes to blend flavors while stirring often.
Spoon the sauce over buns on the baking sheet. Top each with about 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned, about 10 minutes.
