Ingredients

1 French baguette, cut into diagonal 1/2 inch slices
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic
6 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
salt and ground black pepper, to taste
1 bunch fresh basil, julienned
1 lb fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

Position an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the broiler.

Brush the baguette slices lightly with olive oil; place on a baking sheet. Broil until toasted, for around 3 minutes. Keep a close watch.

Rub each crostini with the cut side of a halved garlic clove.
