Ingredients

1 (15 oz) package double crust ready-to-use pie crust
3 cups fresh cherries, pitted
0.75 cup white sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
0.25 tsp almond extract
2 tbsp salted butter, cut into bits

Directions

1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.

2

Place bottom pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan. Prick bottom with a fork. Bake until crust is lightly browned, about 8 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes.

3

In a bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and almond extract. Pour cherry mixture into the par-baked crust. Dot with butter bits.

4

Top with the second pie crust. Crimp edges to seal. Cut vents into the top with a sharp knife. Place pie on prepared baking sheet.

5

Bake for 30 minutes. If the pie browns too quickly, cover with foil. Continue baking until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly, 10 to 20 minutes more.

6

Let the pie cool on a wire rack for about 15 minutes before serving.
