In a heavy saucepan, mix together the sugar and eggs. Cook over medium heat, constantly stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, then add in the flour, salt, vanilla, and pecans.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Let it cool before cutting into squares.
