Experience the smoky, charred flavors of grilled tofu elevated by a marinade made from soy sauce, sherry vinegar, and garlic. Serve it up as a savory dinner dish in just 50 minutes.
Drain and press the tofu for 20-30 minutes; set aside.
In a small bowl, mix together vinegar, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, cayenne, marjoram, and black pepper. Set aside the marinade.
Slice each tofu block into 6 thick pieces. Place them in a baking dish, pour the marinade over the tofu, turning to coat, and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 48 hours in the fridge.
Preheat an outdoor grill or charcoal grill to high heat; reduce to medium. Lightly oil the grate.
Shake off excess marinade from the tofu slices and place them on the preheated grill. Cook, turning once, for 10-15 minutes until well browned but not overly blackened.
Transfer cooked tofu to a platter, cover with foil to keep warm. Boil the reserved marinade in a saucepan until reduced by about half; this will take around 2 minutes. Drizzle the reduced sauce over the tofu and serve.
