Ingredients

2 tsp seasoned salt
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp paprika
4 pork chops, 3/4-inch thick
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 yellow onion
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 tsp water
2 cups water

Directions

1

In a bowl, mix together the seasoned salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika. Rub approximately 3/4 tsp of this mixture onto each pork chop. Coat the chops in flour to evenly cover them.

2

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chops until they're browned on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. Remove the chops and place them on a plate with paper towels; set aside while reserving the drippings in the skillet.

3

Add the thinly sliced onion to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until it turns brown, which should take about 5 to 10 minutes. Next, add the mushrooms, remaining flour, and spice mixture to the skillet along with 1 tsp of water if needed to moisten. Cook and stir until the onion becomes golden brown, approximately 5 minutes.

4

Stir in 2 cups of water to create a smooth gravy, then bring it to a boil. Place the chops back into the gravy, reduce the heat, cover the skillet, and let everything simmer until the chops are tender, about an hour. Ensure that the internal temperature reaches at least 145°F (63°C) using an instant-read thermometer.
